Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey are a collection of surreal, deadpan, one-sentence “profound” musings from Saturday Night Live, known for their absurd, ironic, and hilariously twisted take on life, like: “Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes—that way, you’ll be a mile away and you’ll have their shoes.”

Texans’ Tall Tales: By a Tall Texan by JE Warr is a rollicking collection of about 20 chapters of pure Lone Star tomfoolery—over-the-top, beer-soaked yarns spun with a wink and a nod, celebrating the bold, brash, and downright crazy spirit of Texas through wild stories of oddballs, Harley dealers, and everything crazier than a bull in a china shop.

The Secret History of Bloody Bill Anderson: The Truth Finally Uncovered by JE Warr is a neo-western “what-if” literary tale that reimagines the savage life and hidden truths behind the notorious Confederate guerrilla William “Bloody Bill” Anderson, blending brutal historical violence with speculative dream-like storytelling.

No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy is a stark, unflinching neo-Western thriller set in 1980 West Texas, where a Vietnam vet named Llewelyn Moss stumbles upon a drug deal gone bloody, pockets over two million dollars in cash, and finds himself relentlessly hunted across the desert by the near-supernatural psychopath Anton Chigurh—while aging Sheriff Ed Tom Bell grapples with the rising tide of senseless violence and his own obsolescence in a changing world.

Trapped in Time by Lee Hardesty (from the Lago Vista Writers Group, with ties to local Texas author J.E. Warr) is a multi-generational time travel action thriller in which a traveler becomes stranded in the prehistoric past, relying on his unborn granddaughter for rescue while she battles deadly encounters with ancient creatures in a high-stakes blend of science fiction, survival, and family destiny.

Mergatroid: Rivers of Time by Raymond Walter Seibert (from the Lago Vista Writers Group) is a sprawling time-travel epic in which a mysterious being named Mergatroid navigates rivers of time, genetic destinies, and the quest for the perfect body through the lineage of a child named Urme, blending science fiction, reincarnation-like journeys, and profound existential mysteries across eras.

Gold in Them Texas Hills by Russ Hall (Book 10 in the Al Quinn series) is a Texas-set mystery thriller in which retired lawman Al Quinn’s hopes for a peaceful lakeside retirement in the Hill Country are upended when nocturnal trespassers with metal detectors invade his property, sparking a dangerous hunt for hidden gold that stirs up greed, secrets, and deadly trouble from the past.

The Finders Keepers Rule by W.C. Jameson is a practical, adventure-filled guide to authentic lost and buried treasures across America, revealing where legendary hoards are located, proven methods to recover them, and hard-won strategies for legally maintaining possession under the “finders keepers” principle, drawn from the veteran treasure hunter’s own experiences.

Ghost Riders by the Lago Vista Writers Group is a collaborative collection of spine-tingling Texas-flavored ghost stories perfect for Halloween, featuring eerie tales of haunted planes in storms, spectral encounters, and supernatural chills spun by local authors including Lee Hardesty and others from the group.

The Son by Philipp Meyer is a sweeping multi-generational Texas epic that traces the brutal rise and moral cost of the McCullough family dynasty—from Eli McCullough, the first male child born in the Republic of Texas, who is captured by Comanches as a boy, raised as one of their own, and later becomes a ruthless patriarch and Texas Ranger, through his conflicted son Peter and iron-willed great-granddaughter Jeanne Anne, as they build an empire on cattle, violence, land grabs, and oil amid the savage transformation of the American West.

How to Save Money Even If You’re Broke: Financial Common Sense by JW Warr (also listed as JE Warr, from the Lago Vista, Texas area) is a straightforward, no-nonsense personal finance guide written by a self-made entrepreneur who overcame bankruptcy, offering practical, common-sense strategies for getting completely out of debt without disrupting cash flow, slashing taxes, insurance, mortgage or rent costs, and building real financial stability even when starting with nothing.

Home from the Hill is a powerful Southern Gothic family tragedy set in a small East Texas town in the late 1930s. It centers on the wealthy, larger-than-life Captain Wade Hunnicutt — a charismatic war hero, legendary hunter, and notorious womanizer whose infidelities have deeply wounded his proud, embittered wife Hannah.

Christmas Gifts 2025 is a collection of heartwarming Christmas short stories written by the Lago Vista Writers Group, including contributions from JE Warr (author of Shelter From The Storm), Lee Hardesty, Anna Jean Seibert, and others.

The story is a sweet, whimsical tale about Little Jamie Acorn, a young character who befriends the “Children of Earth, family of the forest” — the trees and woodland creatures that “wander wild and free.” It celebrates themes of friendship with nature, belonging, and the simple joy of living among the trees.

This book presents itself as a practical guide offering protection and strategies to help readers weather an impending major financial storm (likely referring to economic crisis, inflation, market collapse, or recession).

“MY NAME IS BEN BRADLEY. I WAS BENT BADLY UNTIL JESUS STRAIGHTENED OUT MY LIFE. NOW I’M BEN BORN AGAIN.”
When Ben told everyone his witty, brief testimony, he meant that he was spiritually bent badly. He had drifted far away from God and wondered if it was too late for God to take him back. After marrying Wendy, he became physically bent badly with Parkinson’s disease.
This inspiring story celebrates the special love between Ben and Wendy, who waited a long time for God to bring them together. Their joy was tested just two years after they married as they faced the trials of a debilitating illness, the challenges of caregiving and later, the heartache of grief.

In 419 A.C.E., after the Romans abandon Britannia, St. Antony’s Monastery near Coria shelters misfits and men with dark pasts. Nineteen-year-old novice Clodius—a clumsy, superstitious orphan—is nearing the end of his novitiate when he and his mischievous friend Eutychus sneak off to a forbidden lake.
There, Eutychus is bitten by a viper, and the pair discover Brother Adalbert’s floating corpse. While his friend recovers, Clodius is punished with harsh penance. That night, he hears God’s voice: “Find the murderer.”
Clodius, an impenitent reprobate with unholy thoughts about a local girl, can’t imagine why God chose him. No one will talk about Adalbert, and time is running out—1,000 bloodthirsty Picts have breached Hadrian’s Wall and are marching on Coria. He must solve the murder before the invaders wipe out any chance of justice.

Among the somewhat limited and generally clandestine world of professional treasure hunters there exists what is referred to as “The Finders Keepers Rule.” In other words, one gets to keep the treasure that is found and recovered.
Be apprised that there exists in this country an array of laws and regulations designed to separate the finder from the treasure. Generally referred to as “salvage and recovery laws,” as well as others designated as “antiquities laws,” these strictures have been designed by lawmakers to legally seize all or most of the treasure hunter’s discovery and place it in government coffers. Professional treasure hunters have largely chosen to ignore and bypass such laws in order to maintain possession of their hard-earned wealth. The treasure hunters did all of the research, assumed all expenses related to any search and recovery operation, invested significant time and energy, and took all of the risks, all with no assistance from any agency, government or otherwise. As a result, They are disinclined to relinquish their finds to any who made no contribution whatsoever. Hence, the Finders Keepers Rule.
Within these pages, the reader will be acquainted with nine fabulous lost or buried treasures. Author and treasure hunter Jameson has had experiences with each, has recovered significant amounts of riches, and because of age, logistical difficulties, and the loss of his long-time partners, was forced to leave much behind. The backstory of each is provided, locations are revealed, the steps necessary to reach them are detailed, and real and potential obstacles that might be encountered are listed.
Happy hunting, and remember – Finders Keepers
